I Found her!

Place: Hard Rock Cafe, Museum Road, Bengaluru

Time: 08.30 PM

Occasion: Party thrown by Tyngen Pharma, India for closing a 500 crore deal with a Pharma giant Deracap USA for jointly developing a patented drug that Niranjan’s team developed.

Well, Niranjan/Niri…. that’s the person wearing the suit cut by a professional tailor and sits on him like a dream today….like the James bond Tuxedo

Niranjan was about 5 feet 11 inches, with good physique, about 39 years old. He is a Master of Dental Surgery in the subject of Public Health Dentistry which happens to be one of the 9 branches of dentistry and PhD in biostatistics and drug discovery from Finland. Got his break in Tyngen based on his work on Randomized Control Trial Design and Biases. He is considered an intellectual and the blue eyed boy/man who can get Tyngen on the world map. Today was the start for something great for the company and his career!! And its going to get better!

Niri’s heart beat, skipped….he saw the assistant scientist that he was seeing from a year…not the American seeing but an Indian seeing where you just stare and clap sometimes and take a deep breath! Look up the sky and thank God for the creation or sometimes complain the delay in creating the same!!

The light that hit the Hard Rock Cafe and skipped Niri’s heart was Vinutha. She wore a yellow colored dress that was like a Sunflower but unlike the Sunflower, the heads of humans turned in the direction of that flower! Straight hair, with a neat small line on the middle of her scalp which divided the strands of the silky hair equally on the either side…..Her smile was something else, slightly her gums peeked with the her aligned teeth and they were envying the golden proportions of the nature. The whirlwind like dimple on her left cheek was like a lustful ocean, any man of any size and age would drown. She was 26, and may be 5 feet 6….7 no 6.5 inches. Her tall beautiful legs stopped at her thighs from where the Sunflower yellow dress covered her. She was perfect……indeed perfect, you know what I mean….

Niranjan’s chamber was close to where Vinutha sat, in the office. There were many times Niranjan had to move his neck or his eye balls when Vinutha caught him staring. He could not take his eyes sometimes when there was Vinutha presenting a drug safety report of a drug the company was working on! He sometimes caught the Chanel perfume when he moved close to her desk! She was every where, company extracurricular activities to CSR outreach programs….he thought, she is a dream come true…..

Back to Hard rock….Niri was sipping his Whisky sour and he had that light buzz where you can speak a bit more freely! There is a Raj in all Indian boys I suppose, the tonic helps us speak to the opposite sex! With the light buzz and the Bohemian Rhapsody playing in the background and his boss next to him, gaaga about him and his team…it was a superb night for Niri. Wait for it, as I said….it will get really better.

Whisky Sour is orange is color and then across the frosty glass, there was a diffraction of yellow color and was getting brighter and there was the waft of Chanel and boom, there were the grey eyes staring at him with a 100 vat smile, Vinutha put her right hand forward….

Vinutha: Congratulations Niri! I am so happy for you and the team

Niranjan: Very few people call me Niri….I am not sure if we ever spoke like this

Vinutha: Sorry Boss!

Niranjan: Common, I let people whom I like to call me Niri….you can call me…and gives a smile and winks

Vinutha, Smiles and blushes….(May be Indian girls are also like Raj, and may be require the tonic to speak to the guys they admire)

Vinutha: Can I be frank with you today…..

Niranjan, could not believe his luck and gave that half smile and wink again and maybe he was also blushing…

Niranjan: Sure, please

And he orders one more Whisky Sour and gets Vinutha another drink….alcohol helps….really helps.

Vinutha, looks across the bunch of girls standing near the bar and makes a face and asks them to sush and looks at Niranjan….

Vinutha: I am fan….your intellect, your demeanor and your knowledge is unbelievable! Your smile and the way shake your head and react passionately when something goes wrong……wow! I am actually telling this all about you to you…..

Vinutha looks down, blushing and smile becomes even more radiant and the eyes are filled with emotions and they are welling up!!

Niranjan, was suddenly feeling like a teenager and he was filled with excitement but he did not show and kept that smile on his face and bent his face to the right and looked at Vinutha.

Vinutha: So many times, you have caught me staring at you and I thought I should tell you…….

Niranjan, holds Vinuthas hand and pulls her to the balcony, as Vinutha was quite tipsy…..she slips onto the chest of Niranjan, and Niranjan can feel her goosebumps on her smooth arms, can notice her perfect neck and feel her breath on his neck….Vinuthas heart was racing and she looked up to him and there…was the moment on the balcony…with the moon, a cool breeze which was all made up for a perfect kiss!!

Niranjans’s phone rang…….wow the vibrations of the phone were felt in the hearts and minds of Vinutha and Niri…..both were breathing hard and Niri pushed Vinutha slightly away…..

Niranjan: Stay here, I need to take it

Phone showed: ABHI CALLING

Abhi: Happy anniversary Niri

Niranjan was pulled back to Earth and he felt the gravity, he was floating up-till then, forgot where he was, what he was and forgot his 10th anniversary!

Niranjan: Abhi, you have always saved me and thank you….you saved me today too

Abhi: What happened?

Niranjan: You know, this office chick….I had spoken to you about and that, she was God sent….today I learnt she has major crush on me and you just called before I could kiss her!!

Abhi: What the fuck Niri!!! What is wrong with you!!

Niranjan: I have been feeling fucking old and bored these days and today, I felt my heart, I felt it and I felt fucking alive!!

Abhi: so……yen helbeku antah idya…what are you ponting at

Niranjan: This Vinutha, the office chick is the most happening creature, she is lovely, she is respects me and by god, she is a fan of me….I felt it….I can be alive again!

Abhi: You know what, like 10 years back then, even I had met the most happening creature in Dharwad campus where both of us were pursuing our postgraduation….she was the life of the college, her smile lit up the walls and corridors…. And then she married a chute and now you motherfucker, are talking like this……how much whiskey sours you have gulped down!! Wake up man……

Niranjan, caught his breath…sat down and thought that he has not even wished Deepa, on her anniversary….he cut the call and looked at the lockscreen….he saw Deepa with Suhasini giggling. He suddenly felt a lump in his throat. Started walking towards the exit…..

Vinutha: Niri, Sir….

She went behind

Niranjan: Sorry, I am married!

Vinutha sat down on the chair next to her girl friends and rested her head backwards

Vinutha: I like him and respect him even more now….she looks towards the sky and complained why is not Niranjan 26 and not 39……..

Niranjan, started running towards the Metro station, his whole life flashed in front of him….how Deepa stood like a pillar of strength and supported him during his Finland days, how she runs the home and postponed her dreams so that he can pursue his….his baby Suhasini giggling when she was one, how she walked for the first time, how Deepa and Niri bought their Little valley of sunshine, a home of their own……

Niranjan sat in the metro, with his head down and thought of what Abhi, his friend told….Deepa was all that Vinutha was right now….she was the hep chick, the dare devil who smoked beedies with the boys, she was the life of the campus, her smile was the light in his postgraduation days…..Deepa he thought….changed to be his wife, changed to be the mother to his child….adjusted, sacrificed so that he could be whatever he was today……I changed her…he thought with a tear rolling down!!

I changed her!!!

He called her from the metro,

Niranjan: Hey Deepa and (his voice trembled) Happy anniversary!

Deepa knew something was wrong immediately

Deepa: Where are you Niri!!

Niranjan: I coming home…… and cuts the call

Starts to sob and he remembers how Deepa chose Niri over many of her fans including Abhi…..Niri was ordinary compared to Deepa……she was the star and she came to Earth to be with Niri.

Deepa meanwhile with Suhasini drives the two wheeler towards the Metro station and waits for Niri near the Metro Station stairs at 10.30 PM.

Niranjan, gets down from Metro….and hundred taughts were running through his mind…

How can I forget about Deepa, who she was…why is she is not that person any more….that fun, that care free Deepa….its me who has made Deepa today, what she is!! Tears keep welling up…and as he coming down the stairs of the Metro….he sees her…….his Deepa, his Deepu and his life!! And behind her, his baby, his universe, Suhasini…….

Niranjan……runs towards her and tells “I found her!!”

Deepa: Who?

Niri: YOU!!

Deepa: Yenaithu…Niri….

Niri: Nothing…I found you again!!!!!!

Suhansini: Whom you found Pappa?

Niranjan: You!!

Niranjan sat on the bike as a pillion and thought…..I was lost…she was always there….

Niranjan: What happened to your Head and Neck Cancer Fellowship

Deepa: Wow! You remember…..

Niranjan: Let me help you…

Deepa: No need….

Occasion: Niri found her!Found himself and Deepa again!

Deepa, closes the door, wipes her tears and we can hear Suhasini and Niri in the background!!
